#6 Baltinglass, Dunlavin, Donard, Hollywood, Blessington

The second-last day was the most extreme. I took the Dart to Dublin Connolly Station and from there I got my bike on a bus to Baltinglass. The plan was to cycle back th Dyblin, going through Dunlavin, Donard, Hollywood, and Blessington. The trip was meant to be 75 km, but because of unforeseen sircumstances it ended up being 100 km...

18th stamp - Baltinglass

I got the stamp from a gas station there, and bought several cold drinks for the way.

The first destination gave me a promising start of the journey - the Abbey in Baltinglass is a magnificent historical landmark. It's sad that it's so far away and tourists don't usually include it on their routes.

19th stamp - Dunlavin

Dunlavin is one of those places that stand out with something very weird - extremely wide streets. As soon as I entered it made an impression on me that some random village in the depths of Wicklow had a main street as wide as O'Connell Street in Dublin. I got the stamp from a lovely little shop called An Lár, right next to the Dunlavin library.

Donard - the missing stamp

Donard was a bit empty, but the main problem was that the stamping locations were 5 kilometers away from the actual town. The first was a gas station where they didn't have the stamp, and the second closed just before I reached it. You can imagine my annoyance.

20th stamp - Hollywood

The sun was setting so I had to take the Hollywood stamp in a rush. I tried taking a picture with the "Hollywood" label on the hill but it was too far away for my camera. I got the 20th stamp in the Hollywood cafè.

21st stamp - Blessington

The sun was closer and closer to the horizon and I was in a big rush to get back home before dark, so I took a quick picture of the stamp in Blessington and rode the bike to Dublin. I had 30 km to cycle to the Grand Canal dart station, from where I took the dart back to Bray. That was the longest cycle of my life back then, and a great way to almost-finish my wicklow cycling adventure.
