#5 Aughrim, Tinahely, Shillelagh, Carnew
I had to take the train to Rathdrum again, but this time my journey was to Aughrim, Tinahely, Shillelagh and Carnew. From there, I cycled down to Gorey in county Wexford to catch the train back to Bray. The total cycle was about 60 km.
14th stamp - Aughrim
I got the 14th stamp from the Daybreak store in Aughrim, passing by the Kunstverein building with their cool-looking monument.
Apparently one of the things Aughrim is known for is how clean the town is! I can confirm that.
River Aughrim has nice recreational areas around it suitable for cool pictures.
What striked me in Tinahely was how quiet it was. The library in the town square was lovely and the barman from whom I got the 15th stamp was very friendly and impressed with all the stamps I already had.
15th stamp - Tinahely
16th stamp - Shillelagh
Shillelagh is famous for the most unusual thing ever - sticks. They make sticks. But special sticks! The sticks's purpose ranges from martial arts to lucky charms, and to a symbol of passing on a legacy.
Bonus place: a haunted house spotted on the way.
17th stamp - Carnew
Carnew was probably one of the emptiest places I had visited that week. There wasn't really that much to see except the 1798 memorial on the castle-like wall. I got the stamp from the gas station at the start of the town, where I also supplied myself with cold refreshing drinks, because the heat was demanding it.
Bonus town - Gorey
It made the most sense for me to take the train back to Bray from Gorey... which is in county Wexford! This is how far away I was. And apparently they had a festival at that time.
